"Magic" White Coffee

Located in Bangsar, Breakfast Thieves is an award winning brunch cafe which specializes in modern Australian cuisine with an Asian influence. -

The cafe had a very cosy and comfortable environment, the perfect place for a slice of cake and coffee !

The coffee I ordered was called "Magic" White Coffee. The fragrance of the coffee was very significant and it wasn't too bitter even though no sugar was added.

My French Lady is an interesting twist to the regular French Toast that can be commonly found in other cafes. It was a fusion of Western & Asian elements. The caramelised banana was nicely done and slightly crispy on the surface. The berry compote added a nice touch of sourness to the dish while the caramel popcorn brought a hint of saltiness to this dish. The toast was spread with black sesame spread, which brought in the Asian element to this dish.

Overall, it was a mix of very interesting flavours in a French Toast, definitely worth a try if you ever visit Breakfast Thieves!

lemon tart & iced long black

IMG_7631.jpg

This lemon tart is perfect for anyone who loves sour foods. The crust of the tart was not too thick, nor too sweet. It balanced out this pastry nicely.

As for the iced long black, the coffee was very aromatic, and pleasant to taste. It was priced reasonably at RM10. PULP has also many other types of coffees available, including some handbrewed coffee. If you'd like to have a unique coffee experience, definitely give this place a try !

Whimsical - Artisanal Gelato

IMG_7733.jpg

Whimsical is a cafe that specialises in artisanal gelato and also serves coffee in a creative way ! It is located in Publika and the cafe itself has a very modern look to it. It has a clean environment, and the waiters there were also nice & friendly.

We ordered a waffle with 2 scoops of icecream of our choice, which was earl grey & belgium chocolate.

The chocolate ice cream was unbelievably rich and decadent while the earl grey flavoured ice cream was really light and fragrant, the aroma of earl grey was definitely not too overpowering nor did it taste artificial at all. These two flavours went together very well, hand-in-hand.

As for the waffle, it was nice and crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside!

cotton candy affogato

The cotton candy affogato is a signature dessert here at Whimsical. It is a scoop of Coconut & Gula Melaka ice cream in a coffee mug, covered on top is a big puff of cotton candy. You're supposed to pour the espresso over the cotton candy, into the mug of ice cream. It is such an creative twist to just a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee! The espresso and coconut & gula melaka ice cream were such a great duo together. Although a little messy, this experience was really fun & interesting.

The Hermitage

The Hermitage is located at Plaza Arkadia, Desa ParkCity. It serves not only coffee, but other dishes and pastries for all-day dining!

The cafe is furnished with vintage looking elements, making it look rustic and also cosy at the same time.

IMG_7762.jpg

This cup of long black coffee was priced at RM10. Served with a delicate piece of meringue, they complimented each other very well. The aromatic coffee was very impressive. The Hermitage also offers a wide range of coffee as well, including lattes and cappucinos.

IMG_7764.jpg

This red velvet swiss roll was very tasty! Not too sweet, nor too bland. The cream cheese frosting in the middle was definitely the star of the show, truly so light and fluffy.

Another dish I tried at The Hermitage was the chicken don. It consisted of an egg, Thai style chicken and also Jasmine pearl rice at the bottom. This is a dish that I'd order again if I ever visit this cafe. The chicken, rice and runny yolk created a divine mix in my mouth.

This is definitely not something you'd find in a normal mediocre cafe.
