ASSIGNMENT I
As a Chinese, Chinese New Year plays a big and important role in my life. This video shows the culture of CNY such as the meaning of the colors of the decorations and how it is celebrated in my family. The main highlight would most probably be the reunion dinner, which is the most important meal to have on New Year's Eve. CNY has definitely made me someone who values the time that I spend with my family.

Growing up in a Chinese family, i celebrated chinese new year every year. Chinese New Year is a very important cultural celebration in malaysia. As a chinese, i can say that it is the most anticipated festival for us.
​
Colors hv a huge significance in our culture. the chinese New year has always been celebrated with decorations which are red in color. This is because the color red is associated with fire, hence the firecrackers which is also a part in this celebration. Other colors also play a big role in chinese culture. Gold, which is the color of wealth is also widely used to help welcome in a year of prosperity.

Another big tradition to carry out during this festival is a reunion dinner with all family members. Many ppl rush home on the eve of CNY just to have a reunion dinner with their family. There are also red packets or 'ang baos' which is famous tradition for cny. Althought red packets are cash gifts, my parents have always taught me that we should never judge or complain about the amount of cash we receive in it

Not to forget, the traditional fancy lion and dragon dances which is said to bring in good luck.

All in all, CNY plays a big role in my family. It is a festival of joy, reunion and prosperity to us.
